The Acton Roche brothers is extremely dependable for the quality and selection of its produce and meats. While their fish is also of high quality, their prices are often higher than Donelans or Shaws. Roche brothers' catering is excellent - never had a bad offering from there. Dry goods and Dairy can vary in pricing vs. competitors. Their bakery is superior to Shaw's and on par with Donelans. Service counters and checkouts are very fast and friendly. I think what separates Roches from the others is their true support of local organizations and charities - they are very supportive of a variety of AB youth and school groups, from everything from Science education to Varsity Lacrosse. I have never had a bad encounter with a Roches employee, and they go out of their way to be helpful, leading you directly to any item you seek.
We all have special requirements - mine are for more variety in BBQ sauces and mustard - Roches seems much less open to non-multinational brands, in both categories, and I think they could offer more variety/selection in these areas.

I do have a question for this store since I could not get the answer when I asked at the store. Are their meats and dairy free of artificially hormones and antibiotics? Since most of the prices are same as Whole Foods, I assume they should be the same quality. However, the meat I bought yesterday did not say it is free of hormones and antibiotics.
