Aircraft crashed in New York just after 5 p.m. Friday night with three people on board. The plan took off from Hanscom.
UPDATE, 9:35 a.m. -- Two people are dead and the pilot is missing. The search for the pilot is ongoing. "The bulk of the plane is in the water, in a pond, completely submerged and we have to wait until daylight to put divers in," Fulton County Sheriff Thomas Lorey said. The plane was an Angel Flight, which is a organization that provides free flights for sick patients. "We all offer our thoughts and prayers to the families of those affected," said Larry Camerlin, president and founder of Angel Flight Northeast, in a statement. "Our volunteer pilots are the most compassionate and generous individuals who donate their time, aircraft and fuel to transport patients and loved ones for free to essential medical care that would otherwise not be …

The house passed legislation to treat most 17-year-olds as juvenile defenders. Is this a compassionate or dangerous change?
Massachusetts is currently one of only 11 states that tries 17-year-olds as adults. A bill passed this week by the state's House of Representatives would make these teenagers juvenile defenders, according to a report by 7News Boston. That will put the commonwealth in line with most other states, where adult court is reserved for individuals 18 and older. The bill still allows the state to try 17-year-olds as adults in serious cases, like murders. But proponents hope the change will reduce cases of rape in the state's prison system by keeping younger inmates away from older, stronger convicts. What do you think? Are we getting too soft on younger defendants? Or is this a justified, compassionate change to protect teenagers? Tell us your …
Recap and analysis of the week in state government.
The rush from Beacon Hill to the westbound turnpike this week had as much to do with two of Worcester's political sons beating feet from the capitol as with the impending Memorial Day weekend. As Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray attempted as graceful an exit as possible from politics, fellow Worcester Democrat Rep. John Fresolo made his hasty escape under an ethics cloud feeling "marginalized" by his peers and pressured to resign, which he did. If not for those two storylines, the focus may have been on the Senate's breakneck budget debate concluding Thursday night as senators wiped their hands clean of 725 amendments and passed a $34 billion fiscal 2014 budget without the need for Senate President Therese Murray to threaten a Friday or Saturday …

Good luck!
When it comes to honoring those who served our country, two parades are better than one.
Next Monday, May 27, is Memorial Day, a time to honor the brave men and women who have served our country. In Concord, it’s done with two parades and ceremonies to follow. The morning ceremony musters at 8:30 a.m. at Rideout Playground on Laws Brook Road in West Concord and proceeds to Kenneth Dunn Square for a flag raising and ceremony at 9 a.m. A little later on, at 11:30 a.m., the parade reassembles at Garrison Road and Ash Street before proceeding to the St. Bernard’s and Sleepy Hollow cemeteries for short ceremonies at each. Finally, the parade marches to Monument Square for a reading of the Roll of Honor at approximately 1:15 p.m., according to the Public Ceremonies and Celebrations Committee’s events calendar. From the PCCC’s …
