The fiery New York coach and CCHS Hall of Famer will lead his team against the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Game 1 is tonight, May 16, at the TD Garden.
He’s told the Caps to stop whining and admonished reporters over their questions, and now John Tortorella’s postseason ride brings his New York Rangers to Boston, to take on the Bruins in the NHL’s Eastern Conference semifinals. It’s the first time the two Original Six squads have faced each other in the postseason since Bobby Orr was in black-and-gold, but there’s a definite familiarity between the two sides. And it runs deeper than their being Eastern Conference rivals. The Patriots went 1-2 in last week's lacrosse action.
The following was provided on behalf of the Concord-Carlisle High School girls lacrosse program. It’s been a tough season for the CCHS Girls Lacrosse team. With only one senior starter returning and several young, athletic but inexperienced varsity players in the 2013 lineup, Coach Morrison knew in many respects this would be a re-building year for his team. What was not expected however, were the injuries which continued to pile up and plague the team. With four starters out this week, the timing could not have been worse for CC as they faced Dual County League rival Wayland. Concord-Carlisle tops Natick High 12-8 in girls varsity lacrosse action.
The following information was provided on behalf of the Concord-Carlisle High School girls lacrosse program. The Concord-Carlisle girls lacrosse team found their step again on Monday, April 29, defeating the Natick Red Hawks 10-7 at Doug White Field. Having come off two close losses, the Patriots were determined to get back on track. CC Midfielders Becca Olsen and Hannah Dudley led the charge with 3 goals, 1 assist each, while freshman Attack Brianna Stout contributed another 3 goals. Attack Lexi Goodhue also chipped in a goal. Patriot goalie Conley Ernst was again superb in net making 11 saves and earning a 58 percent save average. Defensively, the Patriots displayed their typical physical style game. Algonquin edges Concord-Carlisle, 12 - 11 in Saturday's girls varsity lacrosse action.
The following was provided on behalf of Concord-Carlisle High School girls varsity lacrosse. The Concord Carlisle girls lacrosse team fell just short Saturday in a close contest to last years Division 1 state finalist, Algonquin, 12-11. Senior Captain Kate Wyeth led the Patriots with 3 goals and 1 assist while Juniors Becca Olsen and Emma Mahoney each collected 3 goals. With continued injuries to three veteran starters, Coach Paul Morrison needed to rely heavily on his five freshmen players including Cassidy Hale, Brianna Stout, Madeline Leahy, Johanna O’Neil and Center Hannah Dudley, all of whom battled mightily and showed great composure in a very close match. The following was provided on behalf of the Concord-Carlisle High School varsity girls lacrosse program. On an unseasonably cold and blustery day, the Concord-Carlisle Patriots (3-3-1) defeated the Masconomet Chieftains (4-2) 12-8 in Topsfield. The Patriots were led by freshmen Center Hannah Dudley who collected 4 goals, 3 assists and 5 draw controls. CC’s offense controlled much of the early game, outshooting Masco 9 shots to 3, which included hitting two crossbars and a side post. Defensively, Lucy Fell played exceptionally well for the Patriots as she was assigned faceguard duties on Masconomet's University of Florida-bound all-star Amy Arnold. Patriots fell to the Rockets 12-10 last in girls varsity lacrosse action last Wednesday.
The following information was provide on behalf of Concord-Carlisle High School's girls varsity lacrosse program. The Concord Carlisle Patriots (2-3-1) battled the Reading Rockets (2-1) for most of 60 minutes on Wednesday. Ultimately however, it was Reading’s 3 quick goals in the final 46 seconds before half that made the difference as the Rockets went on to win the game 12-10. Reading commanded much of the first half, dominating draw controls and ground balls to take an early 3-0 lead. The following was provided on behalf of the Concord-Carlisle High School girls varisity lacrosse program. CC took advantage of their speed, strength and more finely tuned stickwork trouncing Bedford Wednesday 14-1. The Patriots controlled the game from the outset, as freshmen Hannah Dudley won the draw control, ran the field and placed a well aimed shot to the top corner. CC never looked back. Scoring came fast, frequently and by many as Emma Mahoney (3 goals, 1 assist) and Becca Olsen (3 goals) led the Patriots while Lexi Goodhue, Hannah Dudley and Jenna Carlton all contributed as well. The Patriots worked methodically running plays around the 12- and 8-meter before dumping feeds into big spaces and making accurate shots on goal. …

During one of golf's biggest weekends, a taste of Augusta National here in Concord.
The Liberty restaurant at Concord’s Colonial Inn is teeing up a taste of Augusta National in honor of the Masters--perhaps the PGA’s most famous golf tournament--opening today in Georgia. Azalea cocktails and a peach cobbler tart are among the Masters-inspired items joining the menu from today, April 11, through the tournament’s final round on Sunday. Liberty’s chef Cassie Pianowski will be serving up a taste of the south in the form of a peach cobbler tart featuring flambéed peaches, orange graham cracker ice cream and cinnamon crème. A win over Weston and a loss to Westford last week for the Patriots.
The following information was provided on behalf of CCHS Girls Lacrosse. Junior Captain Allie Barrett scored two goals and added four assists, while Sophomore Lexi Goodhue punched in five goals as Concord-Carlisle defeated Dual County League Small rival Weston 16-12 on Thursday. The Patriots broke out with a fast run early as Allie Barrett, Becca Olsen, Jenna Carlton, Emma Mahoney and Lexi Goodhue all found the back of Weston’s net within the first seven minutes of the game while the Wildcats scrambled to only muster a goal making it a 5-1 game. But Weston found their game winning the next seven draw controls and fought back to bring the game back within one goal. In an attempt to change the Wildcat’s momentum CC increased their …
