Concord-Carlisle Lands Fourth Spot on BoMag's Best High Schools List

Is that too high, too low or just right?

Even as state and local officials attempt to steer the CCHS builing project back on track from this summer's rocky road, the school itself continues to be highly regarded around the region.  Concord-Carlisle Regional High School landed the No. 4 spot on Boston Magazine’s Best Schools of 2012 list.  The regional magazine based its rankings on data collected in more than a dozen categories, including things like test scores, per pupil expenditures and the number of AP classes, sports, clubs and student-teacher ratio.  CCHS comes in behind only Weston, Lexington and Dover-Sherborn, while Wellesely Senior High School rounds out the Top Five. Exactly! With all the hub bub about the HS building and people who think the kids are suffering what this shows is that even with a sub standard building it's the TEACHERS in the building that are important.   more ›

Concord Schools Top Boston Magazine List- Do You Agree?

The magazine also awarded Concord “cutest” town center.

  Boston Magazine’s March issue is on newsstands now and it names Concord as the winner of the Bmag School Ranking section, among other prizes. The magazine stated that Concord is known for its “stellar test scores and more” in a list that also included school systems in Brookline, Winchester and Newton. In the same issue, Concord came out on top of the Main Street/Town Center Cuteness Rating section, achieving a 10 out of 10 score. The magazine wrote of Concord’s town center, “All around Monument Square are Colonial buildings and boutiques under adorable awnings.” The rankings all fall within the “Swanky Town Smackdown” feature in the issue. Concord (and CCHS) are certainly at the top of the list of schools, but it really is a subjective list to arrive at truly the "best". For every measure, you could find another district with a better measure. Important to keep in mind too that Massachusetts schools are among the best in the country, so to even be in the top 10 here means the schools are among the very best nationwide.   more ›

Verrill Farm Receives Best of Boston Award from Boston Magazine

Verrill named best farm stand west of Boston.

Boston magazine hit newsstands today with their always highly-anticipated Best of Boston awards issue, which awards the “best of” in various categories including the people, restaurants, and shops that deserve their name in lights in and around Boston. Concord business Verrill Farm brought home a Best of Boston award in the Best Farm Stand West of the City category.
