Mom's Curried Chicken Salad With Fruit

This lovely chicken salad makes a great topping for crackers or in a sandwich. It fits in perfectly with a Mother's Day brunch.

"Love, like a chicken salad a restaurant has, must be taken with blind faith or it loses its flavor." ~Helen Rowland It's Mother's Day and like most of us I'm sure your plans revolve around visiting with the women in your life. And eating. Don't most of our plans revolve around food? I am having my family over tomorrow for an afternoon of laughs, food and celebrating the moms in the family (we have big family so there are quite a few). Since the weather is going to be so beautiful we'll be outdoors, grilling. The usual suspects will be in attendance; hot dogs, hamburgers, various salads, chips and dips. I am also making a great curried chicken salad to serve with crackers. This chicken salad is light and tasty, with just a bit of punch …

We had exactly the same poor experience, except we were seated on the patio with wet seats! It's ridiculous that they doubled their standard brunch buffet price and claimed that they expanded their offering, which I found to be incorrect (my favorite smoked salmon and capers disappeared from their buffet on the big day). With so many parking issues and a clearly overbooked venue, waiting was the …   more ›

With that in mind, this week's Best of Patch Readers' Choice poll is looking for your favorite brunch spots in and around Concord. The hyper-local options aren't overflowing, so we're expanding the search just a bit. Celebrating Father's Day in Concord

A look at ways to give a nod of thanks to your dad this Sunday.

Sunday is Father's Day, and today, we're using Patch Picks to look at ways Concord residents can say thanks to their dads. Concord actually has a perfect variety of ways to celebrate Father's Day. Here are just some of the things to check out: A Round of Golf: The Nashawtuc Country Club and Concord Country Club both offer dad a way to spend his day on the links. Relaxation on the Pond: There are few greater joys in life than kicking back in a lazy canoe, dangling a fishing line in a gorgeous pond. Luckily for dad, Walden Pond is in his backyard. A Sunday Brunch: Serving brunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, local favorite Serafina Ristorante has a variety of items on its menu for dad to enjoy. A Summertime Dinner: If breakfast isn't …

Concord Resident Among Middlesex Brunch Honorees

This year’s brunch was based around a Franklin Roosevelt speech.

Democrats in the senatorial district represented by Susan Fargo held the Third Middlesex Area Democrats (3rd MAD) brunch on Saturday honoring, among others, Concord’s Annabelle Shepherd. Shepherd, as well as Carlisle’s Ken Deitch, were recognized for their efforts to ensure rights and security for all people.  The honorees are chosen by their town Democratic committees and do not have to be members of the committee to be honored.  The theme of this year's breakfast based around Franklin Roosevelt's 1936 acceptance speech in which he said,  “We seek not merely to make government a mechanical implement, but to give it the vibrant personal character that is the very embodiment of human charity.”   Those recognized from each of the nine …
