CCHS Building Committee Says 'No' to Keeping Bus Depot

Keeping the bus depot would be too costly, the committee says.

The Concord-Carlisle Building Committee on Wednesday said “No” to building around an on-site bus depot, which would allow the district’s transportation department to operate there. A week after it voted unanimously to allocate no more than $50,000 to study the possibility of keeping the bus depot on site, the CCHS Building Committee decided it would be too costly to design around the bus depot in terms of dollars and the potential impact on getting the project back in position for state reimbursement. According to the presentations on Wednesday, Sept. 12, demolition of the bus depot was presumed in the already over-budget project costs, and potential expenses accrued through altering the design plans would have had to be absorbed by the …

CCHS Building Committee to Study Keeping Bus Depot at High School Site

Study should take place over the next few weeks, officials said.

The Concord-Carlisle High School Building Committee agreed last Tuesday to commission a study of the impact of retaining the transportation department’s bus depot on the high school site as part of a new building plan. Approval of the study was one of two significant revelations during the Sept. 4 meeting. The other was Chairman Stan Durlacher’s admission, in response to a question from the public, that Concord voters actually approved a school building project for which the presented design could not be completed for the dollar amount attached to the project. As it was explained during the meeting, renderings shown and approved previously depicted an $82 million schematic design, with a value engineering that showed where costs could be …

Citizens Still Searching for Answers About CCHS Building Project

As officials work toward getting plans for a new CCHS “back on track,” Patch checked in with few citizens still upset over the derailment and “lack of transparency” from around the project.

The problems that have developed due to an inflated budget for the new Concord-Carlisle High School building project has upset citizens throughout Concord and Carlisle. And, while officials met last month with the Massachusetts School Building Authority regarding the district's progress efforts to get the project back on track and in line for a resumption of state funding, the major mystery still remains: How did this all happen in the first place? Speaking with members of what has been referred to as a “small, but very vocal” group upset over the mismanagement of the project, there is still resentment from the public towards aspects of the project's current course and not receiving in-depth responses to their concerns. Among the most …

My suggestion would be to replace all the people involved! Get a whole new School Committie as Lissa McKinney said "So many egos vested in the early work of the Building Committee and they just don’t want to be perceived has having erred." By electing a new Building Committee and a new School Committe there would not be any Egos to contend with! By now it's obvious to all the tax payers in town…   more ›
