Week in Review: Transportation Debate, Chinese New Year, and a Suspect Arrested

Here's a back at this past week on Concord Patch.

There was a lot of debate and discussion this past week. Here's a look back at some of the biggest stories on Concord Patch. Suspect in Jan. 10 Carjacking Arrested in Lynn

Rishelle Whitcomb of Lynn was arrested over the weekend and arraigned yesterday.

  According to Concord Police Lt. Thomas Mulcahy, the suspect in the Tuesday, Jan. 10 carjacking outside the Cumberland Farms on Thoreau Street is in custody. Rishelle Whitcomb of Lynn was arrested by Lynn Police on Saturday night, and was arraigned in Concord District Court yesterday. Additional information was not immediately available.  According to police, Whitcomb allegedly threatened to stick the victim with a hypodermic needle if she did not turn over her car keys. The stolen vehicle, a gold Hyundai Elantra, was located in Saugus on Wednesday, Jan. 11. This report will be updated as more information becomes available.

I met Richelle in framingham and I honestly have to say that she's a very sweet and kindhearted person. I cannot even begin to image that should would ever be capable of doing such a terrible thing. Police Log: Perturbed Pedestrian; Carjacking; Strange Lights

The Concord Police Department supplied the following information. It does not indicate a conviction.

  The following incidents were documented in the Concord Police logs. Perturbed Pedestrian At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9, police received a call from a motorist on Thoreau Street near Everett Street reporting a female on foot at the intersection who appeared to be yelling at passing vehicles. Police responded to the area but could not locate the individual involved. Summons for Vehicle Violations At 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, police initiated a motor vehicle stop on Concord Turnpike at Old Road to Nine Acre Corner, resulting in a summons issued for operation of a vehicle with a suspended/revoked registration, and an uninsured vehicle. Week in Review: Town Caucus, Skiing Accident, Carjacking

Here's a look back at some of the top headlines on Concord Patch over the last week.

  Concord's Town Caucus was held on Tuesday. Candidates who would like appear on the ballot in the March election may still do so, even if they were not nominated at the caucus, by turning in the proper paperwork to Town Clerk Anita Tekle by Jan. 17. Also on Tuesday, a 7-year-old girl on a trip with the Concord Recreational Ski Program fell 17-feet from a chair lift at the Nashoba Valley Ski Area. UPDATE: Stolen Car Located, Suspect Still at Large

Police recovered the vehicle stolen in Tuesday's carjacking.

  The gold Hyundai Elantra stolen from a woman outside the Thoreau Street Cumberland Farms on Tuesday has been recovered. The vehicle was located in the town next to that believed to be the hometown of the suspect involved. "[Police] recovered it last night at about 6 p.m. in Saugus," Concord Police Lt. Thomas Mulcahy said. "We've yet to locate the individual that stole it." Police are currently looking for Rishelle Whitcomb of Lynn for the Tuesday night theft. According to police, Whitcomb threatened to stick the victim with a hypodermic needle if she didn't turn over the keys to her car.

Carjacking at Cumberland Farms Tuesday Night

Police are still searching for the suspect who stole a vehicle and threatened the victim with a hypodermic needle.

  A woman was carjacked at the Cumberland Farms on the corner of Thoreau Street and Sudbury Road Tuesday night, just before 6:30 p.m. According to Concord Police Lt. Thomas Mulcahy, "At about 6:20 p.m. [Tuesday] night, we received a 911 call from a female stating that she had been carjacked and her car had been stolen by another female at the Cumberland Farms." During the altercation, the suspect, identified by police as Rishelle Whitcomb of Lynn, threatened the victim with a hypodermic needle, though never actually showed one. "She threatened it, and told the victim if she didn't give her her keys, she'd stick her with a hypodermic needle," Mulcahy said.
