CCHS Girls Lacrosse: Patriots Miss Posteason, But End on a High Note

A tough loss to Shrewsbury snuffed out Concord-Carlisle's postseason chances, but the Patriots ended the season with an impressive win over a tough Framingham squad.

Patriots End Season On High Note After losing to Shrewsbury Monday by one goal thus dashing any hopes for a Division 1 playoff run, the Patriots  (8-9-1) rebounded in  strong fashion Tuesday by defeating No. 10 ranked Framingham (14-4) 15-13 at Doug White Field. Concord-Carlisle looked both strong and confident in their final game as they competed at the highest level against an athletic and stealthy Flyer team. Once again junior captain Allie Barrett led the charge, racking up 5 goals and 2 assists while Becca Olsen and Emma Mahoney both added 3 goals each. CC Girls Lax Loses a Tough One to Reading

Patriots fell to the Rockets 12-10 last in girls varsity lacrosse action last Wednesday.

The following information was provide on behalf of Concord-Carlisle High School's girls varsity lacrosse program. The Concord Carlisle Patriots (2-3-1) battled the Reading Rockets (2-1) for most of 60 minutes on Wednesday. Ultimately however, it was Reading’s 3 quick goals in the final 46 seconds before half that made the difference as the Rockets went on to win the  game 12-10. Reading commanded much of the first half, dominating draw controls and ground balls to take an early 3-0 lead. The Patriots responded with a goal by Sophomore Attack Lexi Goodhue, assisted by Junior Midfielder Allie Barrett. The hard-driving Rockets charged back with two successive tallies and a 5-1 lead. CC Girls Lacrosse: A Blowout Win and a Hard-Fouth Tie

A blowout win over the Bedford Bucaneers followed tightly fought tie against the Warriors of Wayland last week in Concord-Carlisle girls varsity lacrosse action.

  The following was provided on behalf of the Concord-Carlisle High School girls varisity lacrosse program. CC took advantage of their speed, strength and more finely tuned stickwork trouncing Bedford Wednesday 14-1. The Patriots controlled the game from the outset, as freshmen Hannah Dudley won the draw control, ran the field and placed a well aimed shot to the top corner. CC never looked back. Scoring came fast, frequently and by many as Emma Mahoney (3 goals, 1 assist) and Becca Olsen (3 goals) led the Patriots while Lexi Goodhue, Hannah Dudley and Jenna Carlton all contributed as well. The Patriots worked methodically running plays around the 12- and 8-meter before dumping feeds into big spaces and making accurate shots on goal. …

One Up, One Down Last Week for CCHS Girls Lax

A win over Weston and a loss to Westford last week for the Patriots.

The following information was provided on behalf of CCHS Girls Lacrosse. Junior Captain Allie Barrett scored two goals and added four assists, while Sophomore Lexi Goodhue punched in  five goals as Concord-Carlisle defeated Dual County League Small rival Weston 16-12 on Thursday. The Patriots broke out with  a fast run early as Allie Barrett, Becca Olsen, Jenna Carlton, Emma Mahoney and Lexi Goodhue all found the back of Weston’s net within the first seven minutes of the game while the Wildcats scrambled to only  muster a goal making it a 5-1 game. CCHS Responds to Shocking, Racially Charged Graffiti

An investigation, and a plan for school-wide conversation on race relations follows discovery earlier this week.

Local police and school officials are investigating an incidence of racially charged graffiti discovered earlier this week at Concord-Carlisle High School. Meanwhile, school and student leaders at the high school are planning to host a school-wide conversation on race relations next week. The racially charged graffiti was discovered by students, reportedly in the library, on Monday, March 11. It was subsequently reported to the school administration, which sent a message to parents and vowed that “we will not tolerate hatred and insensitivity here at CCHS,” according to a message from the high school. “As an empathetic and respectful school community, I know we will work through this and build a stronger culture at the school,” CCHS …

Mass. Not in Top 10 for Graduation Rate, Concord Above State Average

Massachusetts had an adjusted graduation rate of 83 percent for the 2010-2011 school year. How did Concord compare?

Massachusetts didn't make the top 10 high school graduation rates in the nation, according to preliminary data released by the U.S. Department of Education on Monday, but Concord-Carlisle High School has a higher graduation rate than the state average. The graduation rates released Monday are for the 2010-2011 school year—the first year for which all states used a common, adjusted four-year cohort graduation rate, according to a U.S. Department of Education press release.
