Here’s to Hanukkah, Holiday Shopping Nights and More

Debra’s Natural Gourmet celebrates Hanukkah and Christmas, and merchants open their doors for a night of shopping.

  Happy Hanukkah!! Yes, it’s the eight-day festival of lights, meaning eight days of presents and latkes and dreidel games – let the partying begin! Of course, it does mean you’d better have your shopping done, without the benefit of the two extra weeks the Christians get, but then you also don’t have to decorate a tree, so I guess we’ll call it even. Over at Debra’s Natural Gourmet in West Concord, they’re celebrating the holiday in style this Thursday, Dec. 13, with musicians from Kerem Shalom, meaning everyone gets to sing and dance. Oh, and they will also be making latkes – gluten-free, no less – for everyone who shows up. I do love these little fried pancakes of deliciousness! Get in the Spirit

Christmas poetry, plum pudding, and wreaths are all happening this week.

  Woo hoo! The holiday season is in full swing, festive lights are popping up all over town, dead trees are being hauled inside houses and strung with popcorn and cranberries. I do love the smell of balsam this time of year! Even if it brings with it those pesky pine needles that seem to need daily vacuuming. At this time of year, I also love the holiday songs and stories, things I have no interest in listening to at any other time of year, but for three weeks in December just seem to lift my spirits. If you like that too, you might want to head over to Debra’s Natural Gourmet tomorrow night, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m., because store manager Jim Leahy is planning some light holiday reading of his own.
