Changes Coming to MBTA Fares and Services

Concord commuter rail riders can expect an increase in fares and a decrease in service in the coming year.

  In an attempt to rectify a projected $161 million deficit in fiscal year 2013, the MBTA is reviewing a couple options that would save the transit authority money, but would scale back services to our area. The MBTA, along with the Central Transportation Planning Staff to the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization, have come up with two potential scenarios to implement as a means of closing the foreseen budget gap. Whichever option is ultimately selected, it will have an immediate impact on Concord's commuter rail schedule. The first scenario, according to the MBTA's executive summary of the two options, would generate a total revenue gain of $161-$172 million through a combination of increased fares and reduced services. …

Police Log: Lost Wallets, Tossed Wallets, and Another Car Broken Into

The Concord Police Department supplied the following information. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were documented in the Concord Police logs. Tossed Wallet Shortly after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, police received a report of a vehicle traveling on Rte. 2 westbound, from which a brown wallet was thrown. The vehicle was determined to belong to a resident of Maynard. No identification or cash were in the wallet. State Police followed up. Lost Wallet At 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a lost brown leather wallet earlier in the day. The reporting party thought the wallet may have been lost in the vicinity of Sleepy Hollow. An area search turned up negative results. Car Broken Into, Wallet Stolen Shortly before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a car having been broken into at the …
