Shop Local to Show Your Love This Valentine’s Day

From flowers to sweets to one-of-a-kind jewelry, the merchants of West Concord have got it covered.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, some West Concord businesses will be making it real easy to show your shop local love. Next Saturday, Feb. 9 six stores in West concord will be hosting a “Valentine’s Day Crawl,” featuring free food and drink, special deals and a raffle for a $100 West Concord gift basket. Here’s a breakdown of the offerings, according to a press release provided by noa: Many of the gifts continue through Valetine’s Day, according to the press release, just show a dated receipt from one store at the others and receive a free gift with purchase.

West Concord Businesses Among Middlesex Chamber Awards Winners

Annual ceremony highlights local businesses.

  The Middlesex West Chamber of Commerce held its 2012 Awards at a Gala event and several West Concord businesses were among those honored. In the S.O.A.R.R. Awards section of the gala, Concord Firefly was awarded for Creative Visual Display. Dabblers hobbies + café, meanwhile, was given the Innovative Marketing Concepts award. In the Business Achievement Award category, 1 on 1 Self Indulgence Spa was named Business of the Year. Also awarded during the gala were Kathleen and Jake Zagetta. The duo picked up the Community Service Award for their work with the Concord Military Family Support Group.

Week in Review: Electric Car, Holiday Movies, and a Meeting With Santa

Here's a look at the week on Concord Patch.

  There's only a few days until the start of Hanukkah, Christmas falls a couple days after that, and Kwanzaa immediately after that. So we know the coming week is going to be a hectic one. Here's a look back at this past week on Concord Patch. At the end of last weekend, we featured a video highlighting Concord Firefly's horse and buggy rides around West Concord Village. Mary Klinoff of Concord Firefly said the rides were a way to say thank you to the community and remind people to shop at Concord's many independent businesses. The Concord Light Plant sent us some photos and a story on the first Concord customer to take advantage of the Light Plant's special rate set up specifically for electric cars. VIDEO: Rediscovering West Concord by Horse and Buggy

Concord Firefly hosts complimentary rides around West Concord Village as a holiday treat.

  As a "Thank You," and "Seasons Greetings," to their customers, the folks at Concord Firefly on Commonwealth Avenue treated the public to free rides in a horse and buggy courtesy of Tony Mrugala of Horse Crossing Farm in Lincoln. While waiting their turn for a ride in the buggy that circled West Concord Village, parents and children got to snack on cookies and sip warm cider outside the store. Take a look at the video above.
