CCHS Girls Lacrosse: Patriots Miss Posteason, But End on a High Note

A tough loss to Shrewsbury snuffed out Concord-Carlisle's postseason chances, but the Patriots ended the season with an impressive win over a tough Framingham squad.

Patriots End Season On High Note After losing to Shrewsbury Monday by one goal thus dashing any hopes for a Division 1 playoff run, the Patriots  (8-9-1) rebounded in  strong fashion Tuesday by defeating No. 10 ranked Framingham (14-4) 15-13 at Doug White Field. Concord-Carlisle looked both strong and confident in their final game as they competed at the highest level against an athletic and stealthy Flyer team. Once again junior captain Allie Barrett led the charge, racking up 5 goals and 2 assists while Becca Olsen and Emma Mahoney both added 3 goals each. Back in the lineup for CC were starters Center Hannah Dudley, who collected 1 goal, 5 draw controls and 3 ground balls, and Sophomore Lexi Goodhue who had 3 tallies of her own with her…

Junior Becca Olsen collected four goals to help pace the CC Patriots (7-8-1) past the Bedford Buccaneers (4-9-1) 18-6 in Sunday’s makeup game. Rangers Coach John Tortorella Has Concord Roots

The fiery New York coach and CCHS Hall of Famer will lead his team against the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Game 1 is tonight, May 16, at the TD Garden.

He’s told the Caps to stop whining and admonished reporters over their questions, and now John Tortorella’s postseason ride brings his New York Rangers to Boston, to take on the Bruins in the NHL’s Eastern Conference semifinals. It’s the first time the two Original Six squads have faced each other in the postseason since Bobby Orr was in black-and-gold, but there’s a definite familiarity between the two sides. And it runs deeper than their being Eastern Conference rivals. Tonight’s game—the puck drops at 7:30 p.m. at the TD Garden—will be a homecoming of sorts for Tortorella, the fiery Rangers coach, who attended Concord-Carlisle High. His team topped the B’s twice in three games this season, and Tortorella told the Globe he sees no …

What's in a List? CCHS Shows Well in One, Nearly Tops Another

Or, more evidence ‘Best of' lists should always be taken with a grain of salt.

Does GoLocal Worcester know something Newsweek doesn’t? And does either of those pubs check their math with BoMag's or the US News and World Report? Hard not to ponder those questions after Concord-Carlisle High nearly topped the Worcester pub’s list of the state’s best high schools, but was only toward the top of the Commonwealth in Newsweek’s rankings of the nation’s top high schools. The No. 4 spot CCHS claimed on GoLocal Worcester’s list of Massachusetts’ Top High Schools in 2013 is pretty close to to the norm, when these “Best of" lists are compiled by an in-state publication. In the not too distant past, CC occupied the No. 4 spot on Boston Magazine’s Best Schools of 2012 list. However, Concord-Carlisle was ranked 33rd by US News…

CCHS regularly earns high marks when schools are ranked by regional and national mags. CCHS Senior Organizes Dana-Farber Fundraiser in Memory of Her Father

Hannah Lane lost her father to cancer when she was in elementary school. Ten years later, she’ll honor him with her senior project.

A silent auction will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. this Saturday, April 27 at Concord-Carlisle High School, with all of the proceeds going to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Jeffrey Harold Lane.  Hannah Lane, a senior at CCHS, organized the event as her senior project, as a way to honor her father, who died in 2003 after a long battle with cancer. “This is kind of my tribute,” said Lane, who was 8 when her father passed away. Selecting Dana-Farber as the beneficiary of the fundraiser was an easy choice for Lane. That’s where her dad went for chemotherapy and other treatments, and her family has supported Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund through donations and participating in the Pan Mass Challenge. To solicit auction items, …

Patriots Pull Away From Chieftains

The CCHS varsity girls lacrosse squad earned a 12-8 win over Masconomet on Monday, April 22.

The following was provided on behalf of the Concord-Carlisle High School varsity girls lacrosse program. On an unseasonably cold and blustery day, the Concord-Carlisle Patriots (3-3-1) defeated the Masconomet Chieftains (4-2) 12-8 in Topsfield. The Patriots were led by freshmen Center Hannah Dudley who collected 4 goals, 3 assists and 5 draw controls. CC’s offense controlled much of the early game, outshooting Masco 9 shots to 3, which included hitting two crossbars and a side post. Defensively, Lucy Fell played exceptionally well for the Patriots as she was assigned faceguard duties on Masconomet's University of Florida-bound all-star Amy Arnold. Fell, in combination with Halle Burns and Johanna O’Neil, kept Arnold removed for much of the…

CC Girls Lacrosse: A Blowout Win and a Hard-Fouth Tie

A blowout win over the Bedford Bucaneers followed tightly fought tie against the Warriors of Wayland last week in Concord-Carlisle girls varsity lacrosse action.

The following was provided on behalf of the Concord-Carlisle High School girls varisity lacrosse program. CC took advantage of their speed, strength and more finely tuned stickwork trouncing Bedford Wednesday 14-1. The Patriots controlled the game from the outset, as freshmen Hannah Dudley won the draw control, ran the field and placed a well aimed shot to the top corner. CC never looked back. Scoring came fast, frequently and by many as Emma Mahoney (3 goals, 1 assist) and Becca Olsen (3 goals) led the Patriots while Lexi Goodhue, Hannah Dudley and Jenna Carlton all contributed as well. The Patriots worked methodically running plays around the 12- and 8-meter before dumping feeds into big spaces and making accurate shots on goal. …
