The nominees are in, and it looks like Concord’s annual Town Election, scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, will feature contested races for the two seats coming open on the School Committee. Following the Town Caucus and subsequent deadline for nomination papers, there are four candidates, all of them newcomers, for two three-year terms on the School Committee. Residents Lisa Bergen, Johanna Boynton, Cyntia Rainey and Kathleen Snook were all nominated at the Town Caucus, held this past Monday, Jan. 28. Three candidates are running for two open seats.
The race for Concord’s Board of Selectmen has suddenly become a contested one with Elise Woodward running for re-election, and Steven Ng and Dennon Rodrigue both running write-in campaigns. The three met the public at the Town House to discuss the issues they deemed most important to Concord voters. Ng introduced himself at Sunday’s League of Women Voters Concord Candidates Forum as a Concord resident of 15 years with kids in the public school system. He is also a current member of the Zoning Board of Appeals. Rodrigue is 37 years old and has three children. Residents Dennon Rodrigue and Steven Ng announced their intentions to run.
The election to fill departing Selectman Greg Howes’ has suddenly turned into a race with two more candidates stepping forward this week. Steven Ng of Dalton Rd. and Dennon Rodrigue of Nancy Rd. both officially announced their intentions to run for the Board of Selectmen in the March 6 election. Howes is running for the 3rd Middlesex Senate seat, leaving his position on the board open. Selectman Elise Woodward’s term is also expiring this year, but she is seeking re-election. Paul Mahoney, who announced his intentions to run last month, has since dropped out of the race, citing a conflict with owning the Concord-based Mahoney Architects.
