Choral Concert Coming to Fenn

Boys school will be alive with the sounds of singers next Monday, April 8, as the second annual Fenn School Invitational Choral Concert comes to town.

The second annual Fenn School Invitational Choral Concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. next Monday, April 8 at the Fenn School. The free concert will feature performances from the Harvard Opportunes, a coed a cappella group, and No Parachute, a womens post collegiate Boston a cappella choire, according to a press release. In addition to those headlining acts, singers will range from age 9 to adulthood and other appearing acts include the Brookline student chorus Voices of Brookline, a coed group from Carlisle, the Fenn Trebles Choir and its middle school a cappella group, Voicecrack. “I’ve always thought it would be a lot of fun to have an intergenerational evening of music here,” said Fenn Choral Director Mike Salvatore in a press release. “A …

Robertson's Five-Goal Outburst Boosts Fenn

Rounding up Fenn's recent athletic action.

The following was provided on behalf of Fenn School. A five-goal outburst by Fenn's Will Robertson (Concord) vaulted Fenn School's Varsity hockey team to victory last week over a visiting Shore/Brookwood squad. Fenn wasted no time on Wednesday in getting started against visiting Shore/Brookwood, jumping out to a 5-0 first period lead en route to a 6-1 win.  Robertson (Concord) scored five goals and Garren LaPlante (Stow) added a single tally. Jack Tyrie (Winchester) picked up the victory in his first Fenn career start. Against a hungry Fay team on Friday, Fenn suffered its first setback of the season.  Fenn struggled with possession and was unable to sustain pressure in the offensive zone, while Fay took advantage of its second chances.  …

Community Chest Event to Focus on Staying Connected in a 'Crazybusy' World

In a talk this Tuesday night at Fenn School, Dr. Edward Hallowell will discuss his book, 'Crazybusy' emphasizing how to stay connected to your family and community.

The following information was provided by the Concord-Carlisle Community Chest. Dr. Edward M. Hallowell, child and adult psychiatrist, world-renowned speaker, NY Times bestselling author and leading authority in the field of ADHD, will be speaking at the Fenn School this Tuesday, Jan. 15, at a community presentation for the Concord-Carlisle Community Chest. Fenn School’s Varsity Soccer Claims Soccer Tournament Title

  After finishing as runner-up the last two years, Fenn School’s Varsity Soccer team took home the 2012 championship trophy in the New England Junior School Soccer Tournament. The prestigious 16-team tournament was held on Saturday under sunny skies at Eaglebrook School in Deerfield. In the opening game, defenseman Reid Shilling (Lincoln) scored the lone goal, lifting Fenn past Rumsey Hall of Connecticut, 1-0. Up next against Bement School from western Massachusetts, Fenn captain a goal from Josh Cabral (Tewksbury) proved to be the difference in another 1-0 win. Against Cardigan Mountain’s B team, Spencer Royal (Concord) and Walker Davey (Groton) tallied to give Fenn a 2-0 victory. Fenn beat defending champion Eaglebrook on a Matt Killian…

Fenn School Kicks Off Fall Season

The Fenn School opened its football season last Thursday, hosting rival Fay at Reynolds Field. After spotting Fay an 8-0 advantage, Fenn clawed back with tough running by Odom Sam of Lowell and Luke Newman of Concord. A crucial third down reception by tight end John Hart of Westford of set up the ensuing Fenn touchdown, with quarterback Mike Demsher, also of Westford, finding Zack Lisman of Sudbury from 20 yards out.  From there, both teams played hard-nosed defense, but Fenn surrendering three more touchdowns, falling to Fay, 28-6. Fenn hosts Worcester Academy on Thursday. In varsity soccer, Fenn edged Hillside School, 4-3, on Thursday. Under rainy skis in Beverly on Friday, Fenn picked up another win, blanking Shore Country Day, 2-0. …

Fenn's Varsity Lacrosse Team Wins New England Jr. School Lacrosse Championship

Varsity baseball takes second place in the New England Jr School Baseball Championship.

  The undefeated Fenn School Varsity Lacrosse team on Saturday, May 19 became New England Junior School Lacrosse Tournament champions.  In the six-team tournament hosted by Fenn, the Blue-and-Gold beat Fay, 3-1, in the opener, before moving on to handle Indian Mountain, 5-1, and Shore, 5-0.   Tighter games followed, with Fenn edging Hillside, 2-1, and then downing Fessenden, 1-0.  Top-seeded Fenn vaulted into the title game for a rematch with Hillside. This time around, Fenn easily handled Hillside, 8-0.  Fenn goaltender Jonathan Tesoro (Sudbury) posted the three shut-outs in the tournament for Fenn. Fenn Athletes Shine in Wrestling, Basketball

A look back at the week in Fenn School sports.

  The following announcement comes from Brenda Dupont on behalf of Fenn School athletics. The Fenn School wrestling team capped a great season on Saturday with a fifth-place showing in the 43rd Annual Fessenden Wrestling Tournament.  15 teams competed in the full-day event in Newton, with Fenn sending eight wrestlers into the semifinals with an additional two wrestlers, Josh Cabral (Tewksbury) and Robert Griffin (Sudbury), advancing to the finals.  Griffin started strong in his match against a Roxbury Latin opponent and was up, 5-0, before being pinned in the second period.  Cabral, an eighth grader, put up a good fight but also was pinned in the second period. Fenn Teams Eye a Strong Winter Finish

  The following announcement comes from Brenda Dupont on behalf of Fenn School athletics. Nearing the end of the winter sports season, Fenn teams are looking to finish strong.   In varsity basketball, Fenn ran out to a quick 42-12 at halftime on Thursday, Feb. 16 over Beaver Country Day and romped to a 70-28 victory.   Austin Dorsey (Concord) sparked the effort with a 20-point game.  Carter Jones (Concord) contributed 12 points, while Austin Hoey (Concord) and Bryce Dion (Carlisle) each chipped in 10.  The win moved Fenn's record to 7-6, with the team's final game of the season at Lawrence Academy on Friday. Fenn Reaches Finals in 32nd Annual Basketball Tourney

  The following announcement comes from Brenda Dupont on behalf of Fenn School athletics. Four independent schools competed for the court crown this weekend in the 32nd Annual Fenn School Varsity Basketball Tournament.  In the opening round, Fenn took a 22-18 lead at the half over Fay, then pulled away in the second half.  Austin Dorsey dominated with 25 points, while Jack Lyne and Austin Hoey each contributed 11 points to a 62-53 Fenn win.  In the other opening-round game, Fessenden easily handled Buckingham Browne and Nichols and then had no trouble with Fenn en route to a 73-31 victory for the title.  Dorsey, Lyne, and Hoey each contributed seven points, but it was Fessenden taking home its first championship in four years. Fenn Hockey Continues Winning Ways

The following announcement comes from Brenda Dupont on behalf of Fenn School athletics. Coming off a second place finish in tournament play last week, the Fenn School Varsity Hockey team on Wednesday continued its winning ways.  Will Robertson (Acton) scored twice, while Gavin Kennedy (Concord) and Jake Goorno (Sudbury) each connected for single tallies, as Fenn skated to an early lead over visiting Wellesley and never looked back.  Sam Hesler (Boxborough) contributed three assists in the 4-1 victory.
