If you’re looking for something sweet, Concord has plenty of great options, according to our readers. However, Concord Teacakes tops them all, readers said, making the West Concord bakery our Best of Patch Readers’ Choice winner for best place to get dessert in town. Concord Teacakes narrowly beat out Verrill Farm, Reasons To Be Cheerful, La Provence, 80 Thoreau and Sally Ann Food Shop in this week’s poll. If you’re hungry for some French fries, Helen’s Restaurant is the place to be, and possibly has been for the last 75 years, according to Concord Patch readers. After a week of voting and recommendations, the long-running Main Street establishment, which opened in 1936, won our most recent Best of Patch Readers’ Choice contest for best fries. We had exactly the same poor experience, except we were seated on the patio with wet seats! It's ridiculous that they doubled their standard brunch buffet price and claimed that they expanded their offering, which I found to be incorrect (my favorite smoked salmon and capers disappeared from their buffet on the big day).
