In the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it’s easy to forget the child in us that believes.
I'll admit it took me a little longer than usual to get in the holiday spirit this year. I'm sure it has something to do with the broken foot I have been nursing since Columbus Day. Fall is an incredibly busy time of year for everyone, but try adding in two birthdays, a husband’s crazy work schedule and the insane idea of hosting Thanksgiving and then you have a superstorm that doesn’t allow for putting your foot up on ice. But I digress. Getting into the holiday spirit is usually fairly easy when you have kids. You just can’t help but look at things through their eyes and go a little crazy with nostalgia. Christmas poetry, plum pudding, and wreaths are all happening this week.
Woo hoo! The holiday season is in full swing, festive lights are popping up all over town, dead trees are being hauled inside houses and strung with popcorn and cranberries. I do love the smell of balsam this time of year! Even if it brings with it those pesky pine needles that seem to need daily vacuuming. At this time of year, I also love the holiday songs and stories, things I have no interest in listening to at any other time of year, but for three weeks in December just seem to lift my spirits.
