In an Aug. 30 press release, Fargo, a Lincoln Democrat, named Concord’s Joe Kearns Goodwin as her pick to succeed her as the Third Middlesex District’s state Senator. “To be effective, a Senator must listen, learn and lead and that is what I have done throughout my time in the Legislature,” Fargo, who announced her retirement plans earlier this year, said in a statement. “I have listened to each of the candidates in this race, I've learned how they evaluate the responsibilities of this office and how they treat voters, and that is why I am proud to offer my support and …

State Rep. Cory Atkins, a Concord Democrat and Joe Kearns Goodwin's campaign chair, writes in support of Kearns Goodwin's campaign for state senate in the Third Middlesex District.
To the Editor, As your state representative, I have had privilege of working with Susan Fargo to represent our community at the State House, and I can tell you there is no better candidate to take her place than Joe Kearns Goodwin. Concord is the heart of the Third Middlesex District, and Joe’s home. He grew up steps from the Old North Bridge and understands, unlike no one else in the race, the rich history and natural landscape here and why we must fight to preserve it for generations to come. In 1999, he took a semester off from Harvard College to help me run my first campaign to become your State Representative. Two years later, Joe could have done nearly anything with his degree or gone anywhere with his career, but following the …

To the Editor, As a citizen, longtime Concord resident and veteran of the U.S. Army, I applaud State Senate candidate Joe Kearns Goodwin's service to our nation. Following the terrorist attacks of 9/11, at a time when most of his contemporaries were pursuing business and professional careers, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army. For his tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan, he was awarded a Bronze Star for his distinguished performance in combat. His devotion to our community and country has evolved into a desire to become a public servant, representative of a new generation of energetic young leaders. Joe will bring a unique set of experiences and proven leadership ability with him to the State House to fight for us. Joe's tours of duty …

Concord natives Cato and Alexa Anderson write in support of Concord Democrat Joe Kearns Goodwin as a candidate for the State Senate seat representing the Third Middlesex District.
To the Editor, As Concord natives, my wife and I have known Joe Goodwin since we were kids. We returned here to raise our family because we recognize Concord is a unique community. It is extremely important to us that Concord be represented in the state Senate by someone who appreciates Concord as we do, and will work to ensure that Concord can sustain the wonderful opportunities we grew up with for the next generation. On Thursday, Sept. 6, I urge you to vote for Joe Kearns Goodwin as the Democratic nominee for state Senate. I can say with certainty that he will be an independent voice on Beacon Hill, someone who truly considers and analyzes all facts before making a decision rather than voting on party lines. Unlike others in the race, …

In his words: “At a time when people have lost faith in the ability of government to affect positive changes in our lives, elected officials must do more to make government accountable and transparent. The state Senate’s action to shine a …
