Massachusetts State Police will set up sobriety checkpoints somewhere in Middlesex County over Thanksgiving weekend, from Friday, Nov. 23 into Saturday. Nov. 24. The state police say the purpose for the checkpoints "is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways. It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety."

The state of New Jersey asked for help with devastation in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, requesting that nearby states send law enforcement officers to help keep peace and order in the hardest-hit areas of New Jersey. On Saturday, a detachment of 25 troopers from the Massachusetts State Police was selected and sent, reporting to Fort Dix to be sworn in as police officers. 10:42am: Massachusetts State Police now say their ground and air search for a missing Connecticut woman, Robin Sack, is done. Her car has been towed to a State Police facility to be processed by crime scene technicians. The State Police Detective Unit attached to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office will assume control of the investigation. State Police and local police this morning searched for Sack, whose car was found abandoned on the westbound side of Route 2 in Acton early this morning. State police will set up a routine sobriety checkpoint for drivers somewhere in Middlesex County this weekend.
If you spot a state trooper camped out by the side of the road somewhere in Middlesex County this weekend, he or she may be doing more than just watching for speedsters. Col. Timothy P. Alben, superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, announced that a sobriety checkpoint will be established on an undisclosed public way in Middlesex County from Friday into Saturday. The checkpoints, which are funded by a state grant, are routine operations performed by the state police. Pickup truck rollover took place this afternoon at mile marker 118 in Concord.
The following is a news release from the Massachusetts State Police: Today at 3:04 p.m., troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Concord responded to a pickup truck rollover on Route 2 eastbound at mile maker 118 in Concord. Preliminary investigation by investigating troopers indicates the operator of a 1989 Ford pickup truck hauling three other vehicles on a car carrier lost control of the pickup and rolled over coming to a final rest on the westbound side of Route 2. The operator and passenger involved in the single-vehicle crash were transported to Leahy Clinic in Burlington by Concord EMS. Update: July 25, at 12 p.m. Correction Officer Edward “Teddy” Dillon III of the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office was killed Wednesday morning in a single car crash in Billerica, according to a press release. A Lowell resident, Dillion was 27 and had served with the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office since 2008. The National Weather Service issued a flood and a hazardous weather outlook for Concord and the surrounding area Wednesday afternoon.

As temperatures in Concord and throughout the region began to drop to a more average level for the month of December on Wednesday, Massachusetts State Police issued a warning about driving in poor weather conditions. Minor injuries were reported when an accident occurred on the Concord Route 2 rotary between a Motorcycle and an SUV.
According to a Massachusetts State Police spokesperson, at approximately 3:20 p.m., a 30 year-old Brockton man, David Choe, riding a 2009 Honda motorcycle, was involved in an accident on the Concord Route 2 rotary with a 16 year-old driving an SUV Lexus. Minor injuries were reported. According to West Concord resident, Ed Bokhour, who was an eye witness to the account, Choe was trapped underneath the SUV and many people on the scene assisted to free him. Individual involved in single vehicle crash following Saturday morning pursuit in ICU.
Additional information was added to this report on Monday, Aug. 22. and Tuesday, Aug. 23. Officers from the Maynard Police Department pursuing a motorcycle at a high rate of speed entered Concord on Route 117 between 8:30-9 a.m. today. According to Concord Police Sgt. Chris Troiano, Concord officers did not take part in the pursuit, though were notified when the chase entered their town. Troiano said the pursuit continued onto Sudbury Road, and eventually ended in a single vehicle accident when the motorcycle went down. According to Sudbury Police, the crash happened near the entrance to Nashawtuc Country Club. Concord police investigated the scene of the accident. Further details were not immediately available.
