1. Concert on the Library Lawn: The Concord Free Public Library's Music on the Lawn Series will feature Annalivia at 7 p.m. this evening on the Main Library's front lawn. 2. More Music: Jimmy Mazzy & the Last Minute Men are scheduled to perform from 8 to 11 p.m. tonight at the Village Forge Tavern at Concord's Colonial Inn. There is no cover charge. 3. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, public meetings posted for today include the Public Celebrations and Ceremonies Committee at 6 p.m. and the West Concord Advisory Committee at 7:30 p.m. 4. Happy Monday, and oh, the happiest of birthday wishes to Meena Rajgopal — janmadina mubāraka! Today officially marks the halfway point of August, so I hope everyone’s summer has been going especially well. If not, get out there quickly, as we’re down to just two weeks or so. Touring China This summer, Julian and Maria Shih treated their family to a memorable trip to China. They had traveled to their homeland last summer to visit family and the World Expo 2010, and they so enjoyed themselves that they decided to return with their two sons, Daniel and David, both CCHS graduates, their families and their daughter-in-law’s parents. Another installment of Music on the Lawn. Keys found, and the summer weekend draws to a close.

Happy Monday! More significantly, Happy August! And more importantly, Happy Birthday to my husband. August is a great month — or so my husband tells me. But let’s face it, it’s really nothing more than just one long Sunday night. You look puzzled. Well, think about it. School, business, and a return to all the normal scheduled activities that September brings are now just a month away. It’s as if tomorrow, the summer weekend will end and we will return to our routine lives. The good news is, though, that we still have a month of summer to go, so I hope you make the most of it. But by your reasoning, that makes July perpetual Saturday, where we can laze around all day then stay up late partying, because we have ALL DAY SUNDAY to sleep in and recover.
