The map is centered around the red marker, which is in the middle of Concord Patch's coverage area, and the map updates every six hours, starting around 2 a.m. each day. Concordians, like many in Massachusetts, awoke this morning to a fresh coat of snow and, most likely, a host of messages announcing weather-related closings and delays. In case you missed any, here's a quick rundown: Concord Public/Concord-Carlisle Schools: 1-hour delay Concord Academy: Closed Fenn School: Closed Minuteman High (in Lexington): Closed Trash and Recycling: Postponed until Saturday (please bring those barrels in) Town Offices: Closed We're sure that's not all, so please let us know if there are other weather-related delays and closings to share with your neighbors.

A winter storm warning remains in effect for Concord.
Although initial forecasts predicted mostly rain for the Boston area, Concord residents have seen snow falling but not necessarily accumulating thus far today. So, how much snow will Concord get? Forecasters have said that this will be a prolonged storm that will last throughout the day today and into tomorrow morning. When all is said and done, the Concord area can expect 3-6 inches, according to WHDH. In the WHDH Weather Blog, Meteorologist Jeremy Reiner says snow will be steady along and east of I-95. As February vacation winds down with snow showers in the forecast for three out of the next seven days, some are wondering when the Concord Schools are scheduled to let out for summer vacation.
As February vacation winds down and we head into a weekend wherein forecasts are calling for up to another foot of snow, it seems like an appropriate time to peek ahead at when the 2012-2013 school year might end. According to the Concord Schools most recently updated calendar, published Monday, Feb. 11, the tentative final day of school will be Thursday, June 20. That’s a half-day for students K-8, according to the Concord Public Schools calendar, and a professional development day will be held Friday, June 21, for CPS and Concord-Carlisle High School. Planned makeup days, if needed, will be June 24, 25 and 26. And the CCHS graduation, meanwhile, is scheduled for Saturday, June 8. Of course, this is all subject to change, what with…

Blizzard warning in effect through 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.
As the winter storm sometimes known as Nemo barrels toward us and residents hunker down in anticipation of blizzard conditions, the latest forecasts for the Lexington area are calling for snow to begin this afternoon with the action really ramping up overnight. The worst of it, most forecasts concur, will be from around 7 p.m. tonight through early Saturday afternoon, during which time their could be periods where snow falls at a rate of 2- to 3-inches per hour. “We are still thinking 20-24” of snow for a lot of cities & towns,” WHDH meteorologist Jeremy Reiner wrote in his Weather Blog. “Wind will also be a major concern with coastal towns getting wind gusts between 55-65 mph (a gust or two of 70mph is likely on Cape Cod). 1. Closures and Cancellations: Concord's public schools have been cancelled for today. The Fenn School, a private school for boys, also announced it would be closed in anticipation of the storm. It was unclear as of 11 p.m. Thursday what hours the Concord Free Public Library would keep on Friday, but it did announce the cancellation of its Friday Flicks programs. 2. Trash Pickup: Curbside solid waste recycling collection will begin at 6 a.m. this morning, an hour earlier than the usual. 7:40 p.m. -- Following the expiration at 4 p.m. of the Gov's travel ban, Patch hit the streets of Concord. Well, more like your editor rode in the passenger's seat of a car that drove very slowly around the still snowy streets. This video clip shows the road conditions entering Concord Center from Route 62.
