Weather: Thunderstorms Today, Hot and Humid Later This Week

The National Weather Service warned that strong to severe thunderstorms will pass through the area on Monday afternoon and evening, and that later this week, the heat and humidity will rise to hazardous levels.

Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected to pass through Burlington and the surrounding area this afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service (NWS) warned on Monday. In a hazardous weather outlook statement, the NWS said the primary threat from any severe thunderstorm will be "strong to damaging straight line wind gusts." There's also a concern about isolated reports of large hail. An updated report issued at 3 p.m. this afternoon stated the thunderstorms may "not be as widespread" as initially thought, there is still a chance of strong, isolated storms.  "Torrential rainfall is likely with any strong to severe thunderstorm," the NWS statement said. Hot and Humid Temps, Strong Thunderstorms Rolling In

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook on Wednesday.

Concord, southeast Middlesex County and most of eastern Massachusetts could see strong isolated thunderstorms this afternoon and overnight as temperatures and humidity levels skyrocket, the National Weather Service (NWS) warned on Wednesday. The NWS issued a hazardous weather outlook for the region on Wednesday morning regarding the thunderstorms. "Otherwise, hot and humid conditions with temperatures in the 90s away from the coast are likely," the advisory read. "Another chance for strong to severe thunderstorms will occur on Thursday as a cold front pushes through the region.
