Murray Not Running For Governor; Who Should Run?

Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Murray will not run for governor in 2014, citing the demands of campaigning, serving in elected office and his desire to spend more time with his wife and two young daughters.

Murray will not run for governor in 2014, citing the demands of campaigning, serving in elected office and his desire to spend more time with his wife and two young daughters, his hometown newspaper the Telegram & Gazette of Worcester reported. “It's something I have been thinking about for some time,” Murray said of the decision, which he said came after sitting down to talk it through with his wife, Tammy, and key supporters since the Christmas holidays. Lt. Gov. Murray Moves to Protect State's Military Bases

Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray signed an executive order Monday to help protect military bases in Massachusetts, including Hanscom AFB, from budget cuts and closures.

  Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray today signed an executive order establishing the Commonwealth’s Military Asset and Security Strategy Task Force to protect and promote military bases across the state, including Hanscom Air Force Base. This announcement comes a month after the U.S. Department of Defense announced a plan to reduce federal defense spending by about $500 billion over the next decade as a result of federal deficit reduction negotiations, according to Murray's announcement.
