The fate of the CCHS building project is decided today.
Don't forget to vote today. The polls are still open for a few more hours. Polls in both Concord and Carlisle will be open until 8 p.m. tonight. The only question on the ballot: whether or not each town will approve the proposed Concord Carlisle Regional High School building project. According to Concord Town Clerk Anita S. Tekle, "A Yes vote allows the Town to exempt from the limitations of Proposition 21⁄2 Concord’s share of the cost of constructing the new Concord-Carlisle Regional High School." Whereas, "A No vote does not allow the Town to exempt from the limitations of Proposition 21⁄2 Concord’s share of the cost of constructing a new high school." A "Yes" vote is required in both towns for the project to proceed. A "No" vote in …

But the town is getting older.
With the release of updated census data, Concord's population changed very little, but the town is getting older. Town Clerk Anita Tekle gave a cursory glance at the figures, although she is occupied by the town election on Tuesday. But she said "the overall non-prison population has remained stable for several decades. " Concord's census counts the MCI Concord prison and the Northeast Correctional Institution, or prison farm, as residents although the incarcerated cannot vote. "The increase from 2000 to 2010 is almost all attributable to the increased prison population," said Tekle. She noted the prison population in 2000 was down due to renovations taking place at the prison – for a total of 975 for both the prison and the farm. But in …

Register today to vote in the town election, Town Meeting.
Concord’s Annual Election is Tuesday, March 29, and our Annual Town Meeting is April 25. This is the ballot where we decide who will represent us on such boards as Selectmen and School Committee. These are big deals. However, the only contested race this year is for the Housing Authority. Three are vying for the 5-year seat. Incumbents are running for Town Moderator, Board of Selectmen and School Committee. Town Meeting is where we, the registered voters, gather to decide such things as the budget, the bottled water article and, oh yes, Article 31. I know Concord is offering only one race this year, but still, all of us who are eligible to vote should make it to the polls. They will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you are not a registered…
