Giving Back to the Community

Communities for Restorative Justice get an award, Community Chest collects toys, and the United Women’s Club holds a fair.

  So I recently bought a new car – my 12-year-old minivan finally died on me – and my new car has heated front seats, and I have to tell you, I am loving them! It is not even officially winter, and I have been using them prodigiously. My tushy is so warm and cozy, I never want to leave my car. It may have cost me a little extra, but it’s a price I’m willing to pay if it gets me through the long, cold days ahead. Speaking of paying a price, there’s a group that knows a lot about this, and it’s the Communities for Restorative Justice (C4RJ). This is a group that brings together community members, police departments, crime victims and offenders to create a positive outcome from an unpleasant situation. Bring on the Holidays!

Lots of holiday stuff going on this weekend.

Hey, it’s the first day of December! A month filled with holiday happenings, friend gatherings, and eggnog. Of course, that also means holiday shopping, card sending, and food hangovers – dang, I think I’m already behind! I’m still coming off my Thanksgiving food coma, don’t have a picture for the holiday card, and haven’t gone up to the attic for the decorations. I think I may need a kickstart to get me into the spirit; luckily, there are a lot of great activities starting this weekend that will do just that. We kick off the season locally on Sunday, with the tree lighting in Concord Center at 5:15 p.m. I do love this event: walking up and down Main Street, visiting shops, eating cookies and sipping hot chocolate, imagining what I’ll do …
