Up With People Perform: You've probably been hearing about this for weeks, but the he multinational cast of Up with People will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Concord-Carlisle High School to present its original preformance "Voices." Waldorf School drop-in, Up with People perform, meetings and more today in Concord.

Concord Waldorf Park Drop-in: At 9:30 a.m. this morning at West Concord Union Church, caregivers with children ages 0 to 3 are invited to a drop-in play group with Waldorf teacher Lucy.  The morning follows the gentle rhythm of free play, wholesome snack, circle time and a small puppet show. Up with People arrive, meetings and more today in Concord.

BOS to Talk School Bus Solutions, Bottle Banning Bylaw: The Board of Selectmen meet at 7 p.m. tonight at the town house and the agenda includes updates on the School Committee request for short- and long-term solutions for a bus transportation facility on town land, and on the AG-approved bylaw regarding the sale of water in plastic bottles. 2. Up with People Cast Arrives: There's been a lot of lead up, but the "Up with People" cast will finally arrive in Concord this evening. Cast representative from Belgium, Gary Guisset, talks about the part of home he sees in Concord

The international theatre troupe Up With People and the 100 students from 20 countries who comprise its cast focus on bringing lessons of cultural diversity to communities across the world, including, this fall, Concord. For Gary Guisset, the cast’s representative from Belgium, coming to Concord brings hima little bit closer to home. “I like this more European style of the United States,” Guisset said. “There is a lot of history here, it reminds me of home.” Watch the video above to hear about Gary’s time in Concord. About Town

Up with People is Coming to Concord; Wingmasters Lands at the Library

Barrett & Company sponsors performance group; library presents live raptors.

  There are some new people coming to town – 100 of them, to be exact. And they all need a place to stay. You might have heard of the group Up with People; they’ve been around since 1965. They’re an organization that gives students ages 17 to 29 the opportunity to travel around the world, singing and dancing and basically bringing their upbeat message to different communities. They’ll be performing here in Concord on Sept. 14 at 7:30 pm. and the Sept. 16 at 2 and 6 p.m., at Concord-Carlisle High School. But the other part of what they do is to provide a cultural exchange, both for the performers and the local citizens, by placing the kids with local families. And this is where you come in, because they need host families for about 100 kids…

1. About That Road Work on Thoreau Street: Last week, Lazaro Paving milled and raised structures on Thoreau Street from Sudbury Road to Walden Street. (Check the map to see the full area.) This we much know. According to the town website, paving is tenatively scheduled to occur during the first week of August for that section of Thoreau Street. Further updates are expected, and any questions may be directed to the Engineering Division of Concord Public Works at 978-318-3210, the town website says. 2.
