As a strong cold front moves through the area tonight, high wind gusts are expected.
Hold on to your hats -- high winds are making their way into the region this afternoon. The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory and hazardous weather outlook early this morning warning of strong winds that will be moving through Massachusetts later today. According to the alert, strong winds will to develop late this afternoon and into the overnight hours. Forcasters expect winds to be around 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. The winds could cause some minor damage as well as scattered power outages. The advisory will be in effect between 4 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday. Windy weather is causing tree branches to fall.
The windy conditions across eastern Massachusetts today caused a tree to come down across part of Route 2 near Sudbury Road and the South Meadow Playground in Concord around 1 p.m. Numerous reports in the area have branches falling and debris - such as garbage cans - whipping around as the National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the state until 8 p.m. The service noted that winds will be constant in the 20 to 40 mph range with isolated gusts reaching 54 mph. Such conditions are leading to small power outages throughout the region.

Keep an eye on tree limbs and power wires while out and about today. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for all of southern New England, including Concord, that began at 4 a.m. this morning and will remain in effect until 4 p.m. this afternoon in anticipation of possible "damaging winds." "The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a wind advisory ... for strong west to northwest winds," the advisory states. According to NWS there is a chance for southwest winds between 20 to 25 miles per hour with possible gusts as fast as 50 miles per hour today.
