Hi Janet, I noticed you and your husband are standing in front of South Portland Head Light!
Back in 2002 I visited this lighthouse and was inspired to write this poem :
Lighthouse
Both day and night
you sweep your light
for those far out to sea.

Who use you light
that shines so bright
are all unknown to thee.

What matters most
on this dangerous coast
is your dependability.

For with out your light
a sailors plight
at greater risk would be.

In fog you have a signal too
it casts an eerie sound
it's purpose is to help those
at sea to find their way around.
