paul asks : "Who's watch let in the Boston Marathon bombers?" .
Dzhorkhar, the younger brother, came to the US in 2002 -- when he was 8 years old, unlikely to be considered a potential bomber then. The older brother, Tamerlan, spent six months in Russia with extremist groups before returning to the US -- that was in 2012. So the answer to paul's question is : Obama's watch. Probably not what paul thought, but then, from his other comments, I doubt that paul lets facts interfere with his thinking.

Matt Murphy thinks that a Globe article about his use of a legal tax exemption put Gomez "on his heels" ? I doubt it, I think that Mr. Gomez, an ex-Navy SEAL and a very successful businessman can handle anything the Globe writes.
I am looking forward to the Globe reporting details of Ed Markey's taxes, if Markey ever releases his tax returns.

On the article Acton-Boxborough School Committee Supports New Regionalization Plan
Charlie Kadlec
6:35 pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2013
ReplyThe proposed "regionalization" plan would combine the Acton and Boxborough school systems from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. If approved by the voters who attend the special town meetings on June 3rd, it would significantly change not just the school systems in both towns but control of 2/3 of the towns' yearly expenditures which, in turn, would affect municipal budgets and programs in many ways, mostly unpredictable.
Very few people seem to be aware of the proposal. There is a school committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 25th 2013 at 7:30 PM at the Junior High library to discuss the presentation that the school committee will make at the June 3rd special town meetings. There will be time at this meeting, I am told, for comments from the audience, however, since the school committee has already voted to recommend the proposal, it is not clear what such comments will accomplish.
The vote on the proposed merger of the two school systems is one of the most important decisions that Acton and Boxborough residents will make. It is also irreversible. Will the school committee make sure that citizens are adequately informed before the June 3rd special town meetings ? I hope so.

ReplyIf it can be confirmed that this group has not attacked any civilian targets, as they claim, then their statement denying any connection to the Marathon bombings is credible.

SomervilleGirl -- you preach civility and respect but your posts are full of gratuitous slurs and derogatory references to organizations and groups that you dislike, such as Fox News, the Tea Party, and more. If you expect anyone to take your comments seriously start by living up to the commendable standards that you expect from others.
No need to reply, your future posts will be your answer.

Jon -- if you are interested in investing in the Cayman Islands contact Jack Lew, he set up a hedge fund there while he was at Citigroup and invested his own money. You should not have any trouble locating Mr. Lew, he is President Obama's nominee for Treasury Secretary.

J. Yuma : censorship is the suppression of ideas and points of view and that is not what Patch is doing. Patch can impose any rules they choose for these blogs, they are their property. Everyone is free to decide whether or not they want to participate. If you feel that the Patch's ban on name calling inhibits your ability to comment on the issues perhaps some other blog would accommodate you.

To Mary MacDonald and Jonathan Friedman :
I am glad that you are deleting comments which include insults and other content which, as Mr. Friedman suggests, would not be made if the author was not hiding his or her identity. Too often these blogs degenerate into a name-calling contest among a few posters with everyone else loosing interest in discussing the original subject.
I suggest that when you delete a comment you mention the name or "handle" of the person whose comment was deleted. Consider changing your policy to having people use their real names, with a provision to publish comments with "name withheld" if the author so requests for a valid (in your opinion) reason.

These rankings are always more about selling magazines then providing useful information, but one basic piece of information is missing from this article : did the A-B school administration even participate in this "survey" ? If only 2,500 out of 5,000 responded, chances are 50-50 that they did not, which would explain why A-B does not appear in the rankings.
So -- Acton Patch -- how about a follow-up, with comments from the A-B school administration ?
